A Nick and A Nock - English Children's Songs - England - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

What does a nick and a nock mean?

It seems nick and nock can both mean making marks in something. In the case of nick, it can be to keep score. Therefore, it seems reasonable that this rhyme could be referring to cock fights... making nicks to keep score of the rounds. Feel free to email me me if you agree or disagree! -Mama Lisa
