Nursery Rhyme
The rose is red, the grass is green,
Serve Queen Bess, our noble queen.
Kitty, the spinner,
Will sit down to dinner,
And eat the leg of a frog.
All the good people
Will look over the steeple
And see the cat play with the dog.

Halliwell (a 19th century collector of nursery rhymes) wrote, "The tune to the following may be found in the 'English Dancing Master,' 1631, p. 37."
