Comments

Annemarie McNish wrote:

"For the second verse I have this version:

Mentjlek de jendela (he lands on the window sill)
Also the refrain was different when I learned it, I was taught:
'Mentjlong' instead of 'tredung'."

Brenda Dodd learned the chorus as, "Lecun, lecun, lecun tra la la, ..."

"I noticed in the note by Annemarie McNish: 'tj' was used for 'c' ('ch' sound in English) - 'tj' is a old spelling (Dutch era). But it is correct that some people sing for the second line: 'menclok di jendela' instead of 'hinggap di jendela'.

I'd not heard the alternative to "trek, dung" [tredung] though."
