Here’s a nice recording of Frère Jacques in both French and English by Ezwa.

Here are the lyrics of the French and English versions of Frère Jacques. The version on the mp3 recording mixes these lyrics…

    Frère Jacques,
    Frère Jacques,
    Dormez-vous?
    Dormez-vous?
    Sonnez les matines.
    Sonnez les matines.
    Ding, ding, dong.
    Ding, ding, dong.

    Are you sleeping?
    Are you sleeping?
    Brother John,
    Brother John?
    Morning bells are ringing.
    Morning bells are ringing.
    Ding, dong, ding.
    Ding, dong, ding.

    Enjoy!

    1. Heather Says:

I’m not sure i’m spelling it right, and I hope it’s not an inappropriate translation, but my “pap” used to sing a song to me and my cousin when we were little, she brought it up a few weeks ago when he passed away and we cant find anything about it anywhere. I’m not absolutely sure, but I believe it to be Polish of Slovak. It’s something about “stata baba” and if my cousin were here, she remembers a few lines from it If anyone can help i and she would both be greatful.

    2. Lisa Says:

      Hi Heather,

I think more lines would be helpful. Let me know when you get them and I’ll post it as a question.
