Tik tik tik bunyi hujan
Tik Tik Tik The Sound of the Rain
Children's Song
(Bahasa Indonesia)
Children's Song
(English)

Tik Tik Tik bunyi hujan di atas genteng,
Airnya turun tidak terkira
Cobalah tengok, daun dan ranting,
Pohon dan kebun basah semua.

Tik Tik Tik, the sound of the rain on the roof
The water pouring down heavily
Take a look, branches and twigs
Trees and gardens, all dripping wet.

Notes

Below are the other 2 verses to this song. Anthony sent an English translation to them with the note: "My Indonesian assistant and I sat down and translated these last two verses of Tik Tik Tik Bunyi Hujan. The last verse means that the ducks are swimming in a ditch that is not usually full of water, but because of the rain they have a new place to play. I could not think of a good way to convey this in the translation on the very last line.

Tik-tik-tik bunyi hujan bagai bernyanyi
saya dengarkan tidaklah jemu
kebun dan jalan semua sunyi
tidak seorang berani lalu.

Tik-tik-tik hujan turun dalam selokan
tempatnya itik berenang-renang
bersenda gurau menyelam-nyelam
karena hujan berenang-renang.

English Translation:

Tik Tik Tik, the sound of the rain as it sings,
I hear without getting bored,
The garden and the roads are all silent,
No one is brave enough to get out in the rain.

Tik-Tik-Tik the rain comes down the ditch,
The place where the ducks swim,
Where they play while diving,
Because of the rain they can swim.
