Kommt ein Vogel geflogen - German Children's Songs - Germany - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

Lucia sent us a slightly different version:

Kommt ein Vogel geflogen,
setzt sich nieder auf mein Fuß,
hat ein Briefchen/Zettel im Schnabel,
von der Mutter einen Gruß.

Lieber Vogel flieg weiter,
nimm den Gruß mit und den Kuss,
ich kann dich nicht begleiten,
weil ich hier bleiben muss.

English translation

A bird comes a-flying
It settles on my foot
It has a note in its beak,
A greeting from my mother.

Dear bird, keep flying,
Take a greeting and a kiss
For I cannot go with you,
Since I must stay here.
