Notes

*Literally, "Sir Joseph", but without the connotation of being an official title like in England. Monique Palomares wrote, "...'don José' could be translated as 'Sir Joseph' though there's no real equivalent in English since 'Sir' is an official title (in England) while 'Don' is a way to say 'Mr.', but with a certain amount of respect that 'Señor' doesn't convey. Usually you use 'don' to elder people to show respect due to their age or to notables (mayor, doctor, etc...)."

Comments

There is a Chinese jump rope game that goes with this rhyme.
