W'en he look back, he fall in a crack;

An' dat wus de las' o' poor liddle Jack.
I had a little dog, his name was Jack;
He ran forty miles before he looked back.
When he looked back, he fell in a crack;
When he fell in a crack, he broke his back;
And that was the last of poor little Jack.
