I learned this song in the 5th grade (in my 60’s now) and wanting to find the lyrics… Here is what I remember of the song…
Down in Mexico it’s sunny
Days are warm and sweet as honey
Children in the lazy weather
Laugh and sing and play together.Mothers… don’t remember…
Weaving long and weaving well…All I recall…
Just hoping you might have some info… would love lyrics and chords (guitar)… if possible…

There’s a dance they know Chiapanecas.
They all dance and sing ’till the rafters ring,
Clap their hands and yell out “Chiapanecas!” and then
They will form a ring as they dance and sing
Carefree moments pass quickly by

Here’s what I remember from 4th(?) grade:
In Old Mexico, There’s a song they know
Everywhere you hear Chiapanecas.
It’s an easy thing when you get the swing,
Clap your hands and sing Chiapanecas
– and then whirling
Lightly round to the merry sound
As the music begins to play.
Join the happy song, clap and sing along
While your cares all fly away – Ole!
Sing Chiapanecas ole! ole!
Sing Chiapanecas ole! ole!
Sing Chiapanecas ole! ole!

Sing, sing, fiddles are playing

OK, this is crazy. I just woke up thinking about this song. I learned it back in the 70s. I thought it was on a childrens’ record I had – maybe not. Thanks for asking this question. I got here by searching some of the lyrics hoping someone had the rest.

I learned this in 4th grade in Ottawa, Illinois, in the mid 1950s. YouTube has many videos of the music, but none with the words in English. Anyone here know where I could listen to it? What a fun song that has stuck around in my head for many, many decades!

I was just poking around hoping to find the lyrics to this song. This is what I remember and yes it would have been from my school days in the early 60’s I’m thinking.
