Erin Yuki Violet Taylor wrote on the Mama Lisa’s World Facebook Group Hand Clapping Rhyme Discussion:
When I was little we always played “double double this this“…
Double double, this, this,
Double double, that, that,
Double this, double that,
Double double, this, that.Whenever you said “double”, you tapped the side of your fists with the other persons, when you said “this” you clapped your hands with theirs, and when you said “that” you’d clap the back of your hands with theirs and you go faster every time.
Here’s a video showing the game from the US…
I found a YouTube video of this rhyme showing a variation from Australia…
Double double, this, this,
Double double, that, that,
Double this, double that,
Double double, this, that.Double double, ice ice,
Double double, cream cream,
Double ice, double cream,
Double double, ice cream.
Thanks for sharing Erin!

UPDATE: Later we found that Double Double This This has the same tune as the Spanish chant “Chocolate“.

In the second verse of the Australian version there’s a mistake in translation… anywhere the text says ‘out’ it should read ‘ice’. Maybe it’s an accent issue, I know sometimes I have problems with that.
