Christmas in Japan

IMG_5590

Towns are lit with lights during Christmas time in Japan. It’s also popular to eat  Christmas cake. Ayako sent me a photo of the cake she made for Christmas with this note…

“Yesterday I had a Christmas party with my mother, my sister, her husband and Yutaka. I baked a Christmas cake for it. It is a common type of Christmas cake in Japan. It’s a two layered sponge cake covered with whipped cream. We decorate it with strawberries and a Santa Claus decoration made of sugar, Christmas chocolate and a decoration of holly leaves. In the center of the cake, we also put whipped cream and sliced strawberries.

I hope you like my cake.
Merry Christmas!”
