Hi mama lisa. I am Ling ling from Indonesia. I am looking for the lyrics to a Japanese song, I hope you can help me.
The title is OKINAKURINO KINO SHITA DE. My teacher taught me this song when I was in high school and I have forgotten the lyrics. Here’s what I know…

Okina kurino kino shita de, anata to watashi…. (and bla bla bla…)

Please help me?

If anyone can help out with the lyrics to this song, or a translation, please comment below, or email me.

Thanks!

Lisa

  1. Ikuko Says:

    It goes…..

    “Okina Kurino Kinoshitade
    Anata to Watashi Nakayoku Asobimasho
    Okina Kurino Kinoshitade”

It also has easy body movement.
    Good song for kids.

    Thanks for the lyrics Ikuko!

If you, or someone else, could provide an English translation, that would be great!

    Here is the literal translation:

    “Under the Big Chestnut Tree
You and I, let’s play together happily
    Under the Big Chestnut Tree”

Thank you everyone for your help!

Now I recognize the song. I have it on my Mama Lisa’s Japanese Song Pages along with other Japanese children’s songs and traditional folks songs.

Click the following link for Okina Kurino Kinoshitade – Under the Big Chestnut Tree – there you’ll find a midi of the tune, the musical score and the Japanese text.

I believe there are other verses to this song. If anyone knows them, please let us know so I can add them to the site. I’d also be happy to post a recording if anyone would like to sing it for us!

    Everybody’s help is greatly appreciated!
