Can Someone Help with a French Song about a Doll?

Gérard only remembers the beginning of a song that goes…

“Maman, il est temps de coucher ma poupée, pauvre petite, elle a l’air fatiguée… ”

In English that would be something like, “Mom, it is time to put my doll to bed, poor baby, she looks tired..”

Would anyone know this song he heard in the late 40’s? If you can, please let us know about it in the comments below.

Thanks!

Mama Lisa

I wonder if the song you are asking about is the one I have on a National Geographic lullabys of the world CD I picked up at a thrift store. It is a hauntingly beautiful tune. The CD is amazingly good, filled with gorgeous songs from many continents.

Is it possibly Georges Brassens – Je me suis fait tout petit?

  4. Monique Says:

Georges Brassens’ “Je me suis fait tout petit” was released in 1958 then couldn’t be heard in the late 40’s and isn’t about a girl talking about her doll.

It isn’t the lullaby on the National Geographic CD that goes…

    Chut !
    Ne faites pas de bruit,
    Ma poupée est malade
    Pour avoir à la nuit
    Fait une promenade
    J’aurais du me fâcher
    Contre cette méchante,
    Et de force coucher
    La désobeissante,
    Elle dort un peu,
    Ma pauvre poupée,
    Bien enveloppée,
    Dans son beau lit bleu.
    Elle dort un peu
    Ma pauvre poupée,
    Bien enveloppée,
    Dans son beau lit bleu.

I couldn’t find anything else on the internet so far.
