Hi.
I remember singing the chicken dance, as a young child, but can’t remember the words.
I think the start went “Kapu kapu, ringa ringa, paki paki…” but am unsure how it finishes.
Could you help me?
Thanks,
Leah

I work at a kohanga reo, which is a language nest where all the learning preschoolers learn in, is the Maori language. here are the words which we teach our tamariki that particular song.
Kapu kapu ringaringa, pakipaki parirau, whatiwhati hope
kapukapu ringaringa, pakipaki parirau, whatiwhati hope
ka hurihuri huri maui, ka hurihuri matou e
ka hurihuri huri maui, ka huri huri matau e ( then sing thru once more)

I received this email today:
Kia ora the waiata goes like this
Kapo kapo ringa ringa
Paki paki parirau
Whati whati to hope
Kapo kapo ringa ringa
Paki paki parirau
Whati whati to hope
Huri matau huri matau e
Huri maui huri maui e
Then it starts all over again.
