We know Frère Jacques is actually sung in Cherokee (even though it's originally French) since in addition to the note above, we found the passage below in the book, "Cherokee Thoughts: Honest and Uncensored" (2011) by Robert J. Conley:

"When my oldest granddaughter was still in Cherokee Nation Head Start, she was part of a small choir that on some special occasion… sang 'Frere Jacques,' not in French, but in Cherokee and in English."
