Notes

* Names are to be chosen among the girls in the game.

** Monique says, "When I was a child, we would sing the last line as "qui est cent fois plus jolie que toi" (who's a hundred times prettier than you).

Sometimes there is an additional line that goes "Embrassez votre bien-aimé(e)" (Kiss your beloved). You can hear this extra line at the end of the midi music.

*****

The song above is addressing two girls. Here's the version of the song addressing two boys:

Entre les deux mon cœur balance
Je ne sais pas lequel aimer des deux
C'est à André* ma préférence
Et à Henri* les cent coups de bâton
Ah Henri si tu crois que je t'aime
Mon petit cœur n'est pas fait pour toi
Il est fait pour celui que j'aime
Et non pas pour c'lui que j' n'aime pas.

* Names are to be chosen among the boys in the game.

Game Instructions

First a leader is chosen and stands in the center of the circle. The children walk in a circle around the leader.
On "entre les deux", the leader points to two children who go in the middle of the circle.
On "je ne sais pas", the leader nods "no" or mimes it with the hand.
On "ma preference", she takes the hand of the one she chooses.
On "les cent coups de bâtons", she pushes back the other child who goes back in the circle.
Then the round changes direction and the couple dances as they please.
The chosen child becomes the leader for the next round.
