Every once in a while we like to highlight a children’s illustrator. I recently came across the work of German artist, Alexander Zick (1845 – 1907) when working on a Swedish song about dwarves called Tummeliten. Here’s one of his illustrations of dwarves…
Zick’s use of light and color is really beautiful. There’s a softness to the colors, yet they sparkle even when the subjects are deep in the woods like Hansel and Gretel…
Then there’s this glowing picture of Sleeping Beauty…
Look at how the beautiful blue of her dress pops out!
Finally, there’s this one I love of Snow White…
Enjoy!
