Widow McCree
When someone makes wry faces it means their face is twisted up in annoyance. A flea will cause someone to make wry faces just like in this poem below...

Widow McCree
Poem
Old widow McCree
Caught a very big flea,
That had bit her in several places;
When he wasn't skipping,
He kept up a nipping,
That made her make wry faces.
