Monique wrote, "When I was a child, when we caught a ladybug, we made it climb on our hands and when it reached the tip of a finger, before it flew away we would chant this rhyme …"

Galineta, monta al cèl - Occitan Children's Songs - Occitania - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

Galineta literally means "little hen". Ladybugs are also called "catarineta" (little Catherine), "catarineta del Bon Dieu" (the Good God's little Catherine), "buòu de Nòstre Sénher" (Our Lord's ox… don't ask why!) and many other words.
