  • The Butcher Boy with an MP3

A couple of days ago I posted a request for the lyrics to The Butcher Boy. Laurie Mueller commented on the entry…

Wow-my dad always sang this song drying us off from our baths, and now I sing it to my kids. But we sing nonsense words…

“La la lee, the butcher boy for me,” (repeat twice more on different pitches) then it ends “The butcher boy, the butcher boy, the butcher boy for me.”

Laurie was kind enough to send me this recording of her version, really a game she plays with her sons. You’ll hear Laurie singing, interspersed with her two sons finishing off her sentences.

MP3 of Laurie’s dad’s version of The Butcher Boy

Many thanks to Laurie and her sons for singing this song for us!
