Gypsy in the Moonlight
Circle Game
Gypsy in the moonlight
Gypsy in the dew
Gypsy never come back
Until the clock strike two.

Walk in gypsy, walk in,
Walk in here I say*
Walk into my parlour
To hear my banjo play.

I don't love nobody
And nobody love me
All I want is someone**
To come and dance with me.
Tra la la la la la
Tra la la la la la
Tra la la la la la!
Notes
*Or "Walk right in I say"
**Or replace "someone" with a person's name.
Game Instructions
The children form a circle and hold hands. One child (the "gypsy") goes outside the circle. S/he goes around the circle while everyone sings the first verse. On "walk in gypsy" the "gypsy" child enters the circle and dances inside it. The "gypsy" then sings the third verse and selects a child from the circle. Both dance in the middle of the circle while everyone sings "tralalala". At the end of the song, the first child joins the circle and the second one becomes the new gypsy. Then the game resumes.
