"Il était un petit navire" is the children's version of songs gathered under the theme of "The Short Straw" in which a ship's crew, short of food, is reduced to drawing straws to choose who will be eaten. But a lucky event happens that prevents this horrible deed. In the Spanish versions, it never reaches the dreadful point of having to draw straws.
