PICTURE BOOKS

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
by Laura Joffe Numeroff, Felicia Bond (Illustrator)

The boy in this book probably didn't realize what he was getting into when he gave a cookie to a little mouse he met. But one thing leads to another and soon the whole house is turned upside down. Very funny and very neat illustrations.

Good Night, Gorilla
by Peggy Rathmann

It's late at night, so you really can't blame the zookeeper. But he should pay more attention, because as he makes his final rounds before locking up for the night, he doesn't realize that the gorilla is following him, letting all the animals out of their cages. Will his wife be able to set things right by the end? Maybe... but she's pretty tired also.

Contrary Mary
by Anita Jeram

Contrary Mary always does things the wrong way. She says good night in the morning and she turns all the lights on when it's time to go to bed. Little kids will find her absolutely hilarious! And if it gives them any ideas? Well... I'm sure you can handle it!

Go, Dog. Go!
by P.D. Eastman

Dogs, cars, traffic lights! What more can a toddler ask for? How 'bout a big dog party at the top of a tree? Loads of fun for the youngest audiences.

Caps for Sale : A Tale of a Peddler,
Some Monkeys & Their Monkey Business

by Esphyr Slobodkina

The peddler shouldn't have gone to sleep underneath that tree. Because when he wakes up, what does he find but all his caps gone! He looks to the left and to the right, but he doesn't find them until he looks up. On every branch sat a monkey and on every monkey was a cap. Boy does he get mad! Read this delightful tale to your child a few times and soon they'll be repeating it back to you!

Contrary Bear
by Phyllis Root, Laura Cornell (Illustrator)

It's not the little girl who does all those things she's not supposed to. It's the teddy bear! Really... Her dad is skeptical, but can you blame him? Would you believe your child?

Corduroy
by Don Freeman (Illustrator)

Every child who meets him loves Corduroy - the toy bear who can't wait to be taken home from the department store by some little boy or girl. Maybe he'd have better luck getting bought if it wasn't for the missing button on his suspenders... One of the world's most beloved children's books. And deservedly so.

Get Out of Bed!
by Robert N. Munsch, Alan Daniel (Illustrator), Lea Daniel (Illustrator)

One night Amy sneaks downstairs after everyone else has gone to sleep and watches TV till the wee hours. The next morning, no matter how hard they try, no one can wake her up. Well, what else is there to do? They carry her to school, bed and all. As you can imagine, this causes some disruptions!

Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
by Eileen Christelow (Illustrator)

Those monkeys shouldn't jump on the bed! They'll get hurt. And then their mommy will have to call the doctor who'll probably give some very sensible advice. "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" But will they listen? What do you think?

CLIFFORD BOOKS

He's big! He's red! He's big! He's lovable! He's big! He's Clifford! Did I mention the fact that he's big? Clifford just wants to help. But somehow things always seem to go wrong. But Emily Elizabeth loves him anyway and so will your child. All the books in the series are wonderful but here are some of our favorites. (By the way, Clifford is really, really big!)

by Norman Bridwell
