Here are the words I have
Cha, cha coola (children answer in kind) Pat on the head
Cha, kofisa (children answer in kind) Pat on the shoulders
Kofisa langa (children answer in kind) Cross arms and pat on the chest
Langa, ki langa (children answer in kind) Bend and pat on the knees
Koom, ade, de (children answer in kind) Throw hands up in the air
Repeat the song at different tempos. See how long the kids can keep up.

I think it means just what Affi Scruggs has said:Hands on your head, hands on your shoulders, hands on your chest, hands on your knees…
But I don’t know for sure. I’ve heard it on some CD…”Parachute Express”, I think.
Children in Africa greet the Sun with that song. It’s probably from Ghana!???

It is from Ghana and is meant as an exercise song. Hands on Head, then shoulders, waist, then knees then ankles then up in the air on Hey!

I just got back from Kenya and this is how we sang it. The kids love it but I have no idea what is means. I know we sang it all hunched over, with our pants pulled high as if we were old men. They seemed to think the song was very funny?????

I asked Lyndsey about this song. Her husband is from Ghana. She wrote:
“Hello thanks for your mail. My husband knows the song; he says it is a kindergarten song but he reckons there is no real meaning to it. he does not think it is in a particular language, just sounds.”

I particularly searched for this song on Google, when I heard it in our Global adventures CD. My preschoolers love this song and ask for it everyday. I know the meaning of the words now and I can teach them how to dance for it.

i learned it in camp it goes: cha cha coola (repeat) cha cha kovasa (repeat) kovasa lala (repeat) lala ki lala (repeat) chi aya (repeat) chi aya (repeat) the movements are head, shoulders, hips, thighs, lower legs, then hands in the air sorry about spelling

hi..have any chance that i can find this song in youtube or something?if i’m not mistaken i’ve sung this song when i was in primary school but i wanna make sure of it.
