Looking for Girl Scout Campfire Song Called “Bundawa”

Jenny wrote:

Dear Mamma Lisa,

I am looking for a song called Bundawa. I am not sure if I have the spelling right. It is a campfire song from my friend’s Girl Scout days more than 20 years ago. This is part of it, but there are more verses we can’t remember:

Bundawa

Chorus:

Bundawa, Bundawa, Bundawa
Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho (with each “Ho” clap hand onto guitar or lap)
Bundawa, Bundawa,
Baby I don’t know.

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down
And landed on his bum
Baby I don’t know.

Chorus

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
All the king’s horses and all the kings men,
Had scrambled eggs again.

We would love it if you could help our Girl Scout Troop find the rest of the song.

Thank-you!

Jenny from Rochester, Minnesota, USA

If anyone can help out Jenny and her Girl Scout Troop, please comment below.

Thanks!

Mama Lisa

    The song I know is:

BANUA (sung by the Kingston Trio)
    Dave Guard

Banua, Banua, banua, oh! Banua, Banua, baby, I don’t know

Won’t you come to me baby
Won’t you bring my my bail
A drink and a fight on a saturday night
Put me down in the bunua jail

However, the Girl Scout version of the mother goose rhymes that I know is “The Second Story Window (Throw it out the Window”, and should be very searchable.

  2. BARBARA MARQUEZ Says:

this is so similar to Humpty Dumpty

  3. Robyn Says:

    The song I remember went:

Little bunny foo foo hopping through the forrest, scooping up the field mice and bopping them on the head
When down came the good fairy and she said, “Well, ain’t that funky now!”

Hum tee dum, hum hum tee dum tee dum. hum tee dum, hum hum tee dum tee dum

Jack and Jill went up a hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and brok his crown and Jill said, “Well, ain’t that funky now!”

Hum tee dum, hum hum tee dum tee dum. hum tee dum, hum hum tee dum tee dum

Humpty dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horsees and all the king’s men said, “Well, ain’t that funky now!”

You get the point. YOu can keep adding more and more nursery rhymes but the point is to have lots of attitude, especially on the funky part.

That’s how I remember it anyway.

I am looking for a song I sang in Girl Scouts. They were nonsensical words but fun and I want to remember the entire song. Your help is greatly appreciated. Here is as much as I remember:

    “Umpa, Umpa, tiddly pum.
    Umpa, Umpa, tiddly pum.
    Three blue pigeons.
One was black and white, pum.
Sandy Ebe belonged to the mill.
The mill belonged to Sandy still.
Sandy Ebe belonged to the mill and
    the mill belonged to Sandy.”

  7. Holly Says:

Does anyone remember the lyrics to a girl scout song that mimics animals calling to each other? It’s something like in-gom-yana

  8. Alison Says:

I have a few rhymes from the Bundawa song (actually found this while looking for more myself.)

Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
and Jill just stood there laughing.

Ol’Mother Hubbard went to her cupboard
to get her daughter a dress,
    when she got there,
    her cupboard was bare,
and so was her daughter I guess.

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet
    eating her curds and whey,
along came a spider and sat down beside her,
    and she frightened him away.

    Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
    how does your garden grow?
“With silver bells, and cockle shells,
    and one great big onion.”

Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn,
the sheep are in the field, the cow are in the corn,
but where is the boy who looks after the sheep?
He’s under the haystack with Little Bo Peep.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,
all the king’s horses and all the king’s men
    had scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Little Jack Horner sat in the corner
    eating his Christmas Pie.
Stuck in his thumb, pulled out a plumb,
and said “Mom, I ordered apple!”

Just saw this post. I went to G.S camp in N.Y state many, many years ago, Camp Teata. ( 1959-1967) We sang Bunduwa at every campfire. This is how I remember it…..

    Chorus: Bunduwa, Bunduwa,Bunduwa, Ohhhhh…. Bunduwa,Bunduwa,baby I don’t know

Won’t you come to me baby, won’t you bring me my bail?
For a drink and a fight on a Saturday night, they put me down in the Bunduwa jail.

    Repeat Chorus

I didn’t mean to be fightin, or cause you all of this pain, but the sound of Jonathan braggin, was scandalizin your name.

    Repeat Chorus

This Bunduwa jail is fallin down, the rats they cover the floor, just ten and three will set me free, and I’ll be your forever more….

    Repeat Chorus

  14. Julie Engelken Says:

Julie, I am also trying to remember that song. Thank you for adding the umpa, umpa portion because I forgot that. I just can’t remember what comes before it.

  15. Jennifer Festa Says:

To Gllinda….The song goes like this

Way down in wongo wongo the natives in the jungle love Icky tickey tam boo za ZU RAM boo rah rah rossco boom….The kids go off their noodles to see the monkey doodles of Icky tickey tam boo za zu ram boo rah rah roscco boom…. He’s clever and he’s spunky he’s just a little monkey named..Icky tickey tam boo za zu ram boo, icky tickey tam boo za zu ram boo, icky tickey tam boo za zu ram boo rah rah roscco boom!

  16. Stacie Larson (aka Ruffles) Says:

The best part of Girl Scout Camp songs is that they’re sung differently at every camp, and I love hearing the variations!

    For Sarasponda, we sang it
Sarasponda, Sarasponda, Sarasponda, ret set set.
Sarasponda, Sarasponda, Sarasponda, ret set set.
    Adoray-oh, Adoray boomday oh
    Adoray boomday ret set set
    Ah say pa say oh.

For Bunduwa, I have these verses (circa 1982-2000). Little Boy Blue was always our favorite. ;)

    Chorus: Bunduwa, bunduwa, bunduwa oh.
Bunduwa, bunduwa, baby, I don’t know.
(Chorus is sung after every verse.)

Mary had a little lamb, a little lamb, a little lamb.
Mary had a little lamb, and she also had a bear.
Now I have seen her little lamb, her little lamb, her little lamb.
I’ve often seen her little lamb, but I ain’t never seen her bare!!

Mary had a little lamb. She tied him to a heater.
And every time he wagged his tail, he burned his little seater.

Old Mother Hubbard went to her cupboard to fetch her daughter a dress.
When she got there, the cupboard was bare, and so was her daughter, I guess, I guess!

Little Miss Muffett sat on her tuffett, eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider, who sat down beside her, and she hit him on the head with her tray!

Little Jack Horner sat in a corner, eating his Christmas pie.
Stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum, and said, “Hey! I ordered cherry!”

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill just stood there laughing.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockleshells, and one big fat onion.

Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn, the sheep’s in the meadow, the cow’s in the corn.
And where’s the boy to watch the sheep? He’s under the haystack with Little Bo Peep!!

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
And all the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Had scrambled eggs for breakfast, again!
[or, Said, “Have a better winter, again!”]

Peanut sat on the railroad track; his heart was all a-flutter.
Around the bend came Number Ten and made him peanut butter.

A man went down to the sewer, and by the sewer he died.
And in the coroner’s report, they called it sewercide.

  17. Cathy Says:

Jennifer Festa, where did you learn these lyrics? I’ve only heard that song one other place, and I’m so curious about where it came from, etc.

  18. Maryann Welch Says:

    Another verse to Bundawa is:

“twinkle twinkle little start how i wonder what you are I wish i may I wish i might- oh darn it’s a satellite. “
