A song about a Bunny who likes to Bop the Field Mice on the Head!
Mandy wrote me,
I grew up singing Little Bunny Foo-Foo…
Little Bunny Foo-Foo
Little Bunny Foo-Foo
went hopping through the forest
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.Down came the good fairy and
said Little Bunny Foo-Foo
I don’t want to see you
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.I’ll give you three chances.
Little Bunny Foo-Foo
went hopping through the forest
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.Down came the good fairy
and said Little Bunny Foo-Foo
I don’t want to see you
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.I’ll give you two chances.
Little Bunny Foo-Foo
went hopping through the forest
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.Down came the good fairy
and said Little Bunny Foo-Foo
I don’t want to see you
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.I’ll give you one last chance.
Little Bunny Foo-Foo
went hopping through the forest
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.Down came the good fairy
and said Little Bunny Foo-Foo
I already told you to stop
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head.
Poof – your a mouse.I lived in Colorado for a while so we changed the song.
Instead of the forest it was the summit. Instead of field mice it was geeks. Instead of the good fairy it was the summit county chamber of commerce. With Love, Mandy

I always thought it was Little Bunny Foo foo hopping throught the forest scooping up the field mice and bopping them on the head and down came the good fairy princess and she said little bunny foo foo I DONT LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE picking up the field mice and bopping them on the head. HOw dissapointing!

That IS a valid version. This song is sung as “Little Rabbit” instead of “Little Bunny”, it is sung with him “banging” as well as “bopping” and other such.
And almost EVERY version has the Fairy saying “I’ll give you 3 chances (days), or I’m going to turn you into a GOON!” (And you make a monster face.)
I’ve NEVER heard the mouse bit before. And with it, how can you have the wonderful moral: “hare today, GOON tomorrow!”

The goon version I read elsewhere was a midwestern thing. Personally, I learned the song almost exactly like this ‘cept in the last verse it was “down came the good fairy and she picked up little foo foo and bopped him on the head”. I hadn’t ever heard the goon bit before today, though I haven’t found the version I know anywhere else yet. Maybe it’s unique to whereever I learned it from.

Little Bunny Foo Foo is a fabbbulouss song. But I have to ask, WHY does bunny foo foo bop the field mice, or whatever other animal you say, in the HEAD?? It’s so rude, I just can’t figure it out. And do the field mice DIE when they are hit in the head? Or what?? PLEASE RESPOND WITH THE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree… I love this song… but have always been disturbed by the bunny bopping the field mice over the head! I myself don’t think they actually die (but I’m an optimist!). Just remember, he gets his in the end when the good fairy turns him into a field mouse!

Uly Said:
Bunny Foo Foo doesn’t get turned into a field mouse, he gets turned into the goon, thus setting up the atrocious pun “Hare today, Goon tomorrow”. It’s a shaggy dog story for kids!
