Hedy Lamarr – A Role Model for Girls

Hedy_Lamarr_in_a_1940_MGM_publicity_stillAustrian American actress Hedy Lamarr (1914 – 2000) is an unlikely person to have revolutionized the world of technology! She started as a successful Hollywood actress, eventually got bored and developed a communications system to guide missiles for the Allies in WWII. However, the methods she developed weren’t technologically feasible during the 1940’s.  It wasn’t until the 60’s that technology caught up to her ideas and led the way to cell phones, Bluetooth and Wifi technology.

Google created a Doodle to honor Lamarr’s contributions to technology…
