Lab pe aati hai dua ban ke tamanna meri
(My longing comes to my lips as a supplication of mine)
Zindagi shamma ki surat ho Khudaya meri
(Oh God! May the life of mine be like the beauty of the candle.)

Lab pe aati hai dua ban ke tamanna meri
(My longing comes to my lips as a supplication of mine.)

Ho mere dam se yunhi mere watan ki zeenat
(May my homeland attain elegance through me)
Jis tarha phool se hoti hai chaman ki zeenat
(As the garden attains elegance with flowers.)

Zindagi ho meri parwane ki surat ya Rabb
(May my life be like that of the moth, oh Lord)
Ilm ki shamma se ho mujh ko mohabbat ya Rabb
(May I love the lamp of knowledge, oh Lord.)

Ho mera kaam gharibon ki himayat karna
(May my life's way be supportive of the poor)
Dardmando se za'eefon se mohabbat karna
(May my way be loving the old, the suffering.)

Mere allah burai se bachana mujhko
(My God! Protect me from evil ways)
Naik jo rah ho, ussi reh pe chalana mujhko
(Show me the path leading to the good way.)
