Did You Ever See a Lassie? - American Children's Songs - The USA - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

Here's an earlier version of this song:

Did you ever see a lassie,
A lassie, a lassie?
Did you ever see a lassie,
Do this way and that?
Do this way and that way,
Do this way and that way.
Did you ever see a lassie,
Do this way and that?

Did you ever see a laddie,
A laddie, a laddie?
Did you ever see a laddie,
Do this way and that?
Do this way and that way,
Do this way and that way.
Did you ever see a laddie,
Do this way and that?

Game Instructions

The children make a circle and dance around one player (the Lassie or Laddie). When the kids reach the end of the verse they stop, the child in the middle performs an action, which the other children then imitate. The Lassie or Laddie in the middle then chooses a new child to be the one in the middle. The game starts again.
