Vent frais, vent du matin - French Children's Songs - France - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

*Or "passe" (goes)

Another version:

*Or "passe" (goes)

Translation

Fresh wind, morning wind,
Lifting the treetops of the great pines,
Joyful blowing wind, let's go out in the strong…

*****

Lania, a story teller, sent us two additional verses:

English translation:

Hot wind, midday wind,
Wind that blows at the top of the wheat,
Joy of the wind that blows, let's go in the strong…

Cold wind, rainy wind,
Wind that blows till the end of the night,
Joy of the wind that blows, let's go in the strong wind.

Comments

The tune comes from the English round "Heigh-ho! Nobody Home."

A slightly different version is sung in Switzerland.
